Colorful slipcover furniture and beautiful hardwood furniture!

We love Color!

Our love of color and the steps we take to achieve it for you is what makes us different than traditional furniture and chain stores. We have sought out fabrics that are not customarily offered by upholstery manufacturers in their fabric selections. One reason is cost. The second is most consumers are happy with white or earth tones. Let’s face it, furniture and chain stores are in business to make money on what appeals to the majority. Only a few of us are crazy enough to provide something different.
Another way we stand out, the pricing on our hardwood dining chairs with upholstered seats includes our colorful fabric upgrades. We don’t charge you extra for them. After all, this is what our store is all about – infusing your life with color.
We love Savings.

10% - 25% off manufacturer’s suggested retail price every day!
On occasion we will provide you with discount coupons for additional savings off our normally discounted prices.

Construction

Upholstery

|
When I started out on this adventure, my first quest was to understand what makes a sofa or chair well constructed. I sought out one of the few remaining sofa manufacturers located in New England, Barclay Furniture to guide me through the construction process. Barclay, once a large sofa manufacturer, is now a custom shop that creates one-of-a-kind pieces. Furniture making at its best is still a craft that involves the human touch. Our upholstery pieces are expertly crafted by Lee Industries and Miles Talbot in North Carolina.
How do our sofas and chairs differ?

- If one of our sofa or chair styles is discontinued, the manufacturers retain the slipcover templates indefinitely so you can always order a new slipcover.
- Frames are made of hardwood or engineered hardwoods not composites. The joints are double doweled and corners are blocked to add strength and durability.
- Our sofas and chairs use coil springs that are eight way-hand tied to prevent shifting. This type of spring is designed to absorb shock. Many manufacturers use sinuous springs that are not as strong or no springs at all.
- Both of the manufacturers we use provide a lifetime guarantee that their frames and springs are free from manufacturing defects.
- Back cushions are made of polyester -fiber (Lee uses polyester made from recycled plastic) encased in a down ticking (cotton fabric). Seat cushions are high-density polyurethane foam wrapped in a blanket of polyester fibers and then encased in a down ticking.
- Miles Talbot provides a lifetime guarantee on their cushion cores against collapse.
Wood Furnishings

All our wood furnishings are handcrafted in Vermont by Lyndon Furniture. Our chairs, tables, entertainment centers and occasional tables are constructed from solid hardwoods – cherry, maple and oak. Yes, real wood not particle board that is painted or stained to look like the real thing. Most tables on the market are ¾” thick, Lyndon’s standard is 1” or 1 ¼” thickness. Legs vary from 1 ¾” to 2 ¾”. Drawers are solid hardwood with dovetailed joints and side drawer glides. Doors are frame and panel (the panels are free floating) and construction is mortise and tenon. Curly maple, wormy maple and walnut are also available on some pieces. Additional costs may apply.
Stains and Finishes

A clear non-toxic lacquer in a low sheen, matte finish is used on all pieces. In additional to natural, standard stains include Autumn Cherry, Mahogany Cherry, Medium Maple, Medium Oak, Classic Oak, Autumn Oak and Espresso. Tiger-eye stain is available at an additional cost. There is no additional fee for tiger-eye stain on Curly Maple.
Any table base or chair can be painted at an additional charge. Standard paint colors include White, Black, Champlain Blue, Springfield Green, Vermont Green, Coral, Barn Red, Maple Cream, Stowe White, Danby Gray and Bellows Blue.
